Deadly iron bars are seen jutting out of main thoroughfares in Kolkata at several intersections. These are installed primarily at the end of medians or dividers on dual carriageways to mark turnings and to 'safeguard' the medians.
The administration seems totally unaware of the lethal nature of these killer bars that rip at vehicles and motorists with their sharp edges, frequently causing major accidents at the turnings.
Huge boulders are also seen placed on main passageways to protect the concrete dividers – seemingly poised to finish off the hapless motorist.

The callousness with which these iron bars have been placed appears strangely obtuse. They seem to challenge us with a 'suffer at own peril' kind of an attitude. While advanced cities have replaced such unsafe traffic gadgets with soft or ductile materials such as plastic or PVC, the iron joists in Kolkata portray inefficient planning of city admins. Team WHEELS earnestly appeals to the concerned authorities to remove all such dangerous iron bars and boulders to promote the 'Safe Drive Save Life' mission.
